Exploring Material Intelligence: A Visit to the GRC Factory

YAAM Architects' commitment to material research, exploring how knowledge of materials drives innovation, creativity, and better architectural design.

Architecture begins with materials. Understanding how they perform, how they are made, and how they shape design is essential to creating meaningful architecture.

As part of our ongoing research and development, YAAM Architects visited a GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) factory to explore one of the industry’s most versatile materials. Beyond its ability to achieve complex forms and refined finishes, the visit revealed the craftsmanship, precision, and engineering required to transform design concepts into built reality.

For us, material research is an integral part of the design process. Engaging directly with manufacturers and production methods provides valuable insight into the possibilities and limitations of materials, helping bridge the gap between concept and construction.

This visit reflects YAAM Architects’ commitment to continuous learning and material innovation. By deepening our understanding of the materials we design with, we create architecture that is more informed, buildable, and responsive.

Because great architecture is shaped not only by imagination, but by knowledge.
