Leisure Harbor reimagines Loano’s port as more than berths and services: a sociocultural waterfront district where public life, leisure, and maritime identity meet. A family of shimmering glass “hills” inspired by the surrounding mountains creates an iconic yet contextual landmark—offering panoramic views by day and a glowing civic stage by night.

Every city has a first impression—and for Loano, it is the harbor. Traditionally a functional threshold between land and water, the port is also the city’s maritime face: the place visitors arrive to, and residents return to. Leisure Harbor begins by treating that moment as a story worth designing—one that carries Loano’s artistic spirit, coastal culture, and picturesque landscape into a contemporary public realm.

The architectural concept is drawn directly from place. The main buildings rise as smooth, mountain-like forms—glass volumes that echo the surrounding topography while acting as a mirror to the city’s identity. Their reflective skins capture the shifting scenery—sky, water, and hillside—so the harbor becomes a living panorama. Inside, transparency turns the view into a daily experience: sea-to-city sightlines, framed horizons, and elevated vantage points that make orientation feel effortless and memorable.

Program turns the port into a year-round destination. A continuous public platform stitches together markets, shops, restaurants, and civic leisure—layered with green terraces for picnics and rest, rooftop lookouts, and an open theater overlooking the water. Movement is choreographed through pedestrian paths, cycling and jogging tracks, and waterfront decks—supported by swimming pools, water play, kiosks, and diverse gathering spaces.
